November Car Sales Jump 16% in China

Wholesale deliveries of passenger vehicles in China climbed to 1.7 million units last month from 1.5 million a year earlier, the China Assn. of Automobile Manufacturers says.

Wholesale deliveries of passenger vehicles in China climbed to 1.7 million units last month from 1.5 million a year earlier, the China Assn. of Automobile Manufacturers says.

Sales of all vehicles, including large buses and commercial trucks, rose 14% to 2.04 million units in November.

November sales by Japanese brands surged 19% to 325,400 units. Demand for General Motors and Ford brands climbed 47% to 99,200 units and 13% to 294,500 units, respectively, according to CAAM's data.

In the first 11 months, combined car, truck and bus sales climbed nearly 14% to 19.9 million units, according to CAAM. That compares with 19.3 million units in all of 2012.
