Hiroto Saikawa, who will take over as CEO of Nissan Motor Co. on April 1, tells reporters he intends to accelerate the company’s management procedures and expand efforts to diversify its leadership.
He will succeed Carlos Ghosn, who will continue as CEO at Renault and chairman of Nissan, Renault and Mitsubishi Motors. Saikawa was Nissan’s chief competitive officer between 2013 and 2016 before becoming co-CEO late last year.
Encouraging growth without reducing efficiency will be a key goal, Saikawa says. He also wants to improve Nissan sales in Japan, the Middle East and southeast Asia.
