Daimler AG and Renault SA have expanded their three-year-old alliance again, this time to include commercial vans supplied from Japan by Renault partner Nissan Motor Corp.

The deal will enable Daimler will sell rebadged Nissan NV350 Urvan vans under the German company's Mitsubishi Fuso truck brand.

The companies say they also may discuss a deal to supply Renault with a rebadged version of the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter large van. Daimler currently provides Sprinters to Volkswagen AG, which sells them under its Crafter brand in an arrangement that will expire at the end of 2016.

The Daimler-Renault partnership was launched to collaborate on developing small delivery vans and next-generation city cars for both companies.

Last year the alliance expanded to include a family of jointly developed and co-produced 4-cylinder turbocharged gasoline engines. It also includes a Daimler-developed automatic transmission that Nissan will license for use in its vehicle, including Infiniti luxury cars to be built in Mexico.
