Nissan Motor Co. will begin a recall next month of five models from the 2013 model year to replace faulty passenger-seat airbag sensors.
The campaign involves an unspecified number of Altima and Sentra sedans, Leaf electric cars, Pathfinder SUVs and Infiniti JX35 crossovers.
The sensor detects the presence of an occupant in the front passenger seat and tells the airbags on that side of the car whether to deploy in a crash. A manufacturing flaw could cause the sensor to prevent the passenger airbags from working under any circumstances, Nissan says.
