Nissan Motor Co. is eliminating two production shifts at its truck and van plant in Canton, Miss.
The company is dropping one shift each for lines that make NV vans and Titan and Frontier pickup trucks, none of which are selling strongly. The reduction will affect as many as 700 contract workers but none of the factory’s 5,800 direct employees.
The plant, which has capacity to make 450,000 vehicles annually, also assembles Altima sedans and Murano crossover vehicles.
