Next month Nissan Motor Co. will begin fixing a defect in about 18,900 NV delivery vans that could allow the trucks to roll away when parked.
The repairs involve 2012-2013 models built between December 2010 and January 2013 in Canton, Miss.
The trucks are equipped with a column-mounted automatic transmission shift lever and contain a gear selector plate lock clip that may loosen. If so, the shift display could indicate the transmission is in Park when it isn't, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
Nissan says the faulty retainers were not installed properly. Its dealers will inspect and reinstall the clips as needed.
