As with other Nismo offerings, the Leaf concept gets a more aggressive body kit and the sub-brand's signature red accent lines on the lower bumpers and side sills.

Other goodies include a sport-tuned suspension, high-performance tires and a custom-tuned computer that promises "instant acceleration at all speeds." Nissan says the changes will enhance the electric car’s aerodynamics and overall ride characteristics.

Nissan announced plans earlier this year to double its Nismo offerings—including expanding into new segments—and increase sales sixfold over the next five years. In the U.S., the lineup currently is limited to Nismo-tuned variants of the Juke crossover, Sentra sedan and GT-R and 370Z sports cars.

The carmaker says it also will unveil a new “intelligent mobility” concept model at the Tokyo show. The vehicle will feature electrification, autonomous driving and connectivity technologies.
