Nissan Motor Co. is recalling 908,900 vehicles worldwide, including 98,300 units in the U.S., to replace a faulty accelerator pedal sensor that could cause the engine to stall.

In the U.S., the campaign involves 102,100 Infiniti M cars produced during the 2006-2010 model years. In Japan, the recall covers 764,800 of the company's 2004-2013 Serena and Lafesta vans, X-Trail SUVs and Fuga sedans. All affected vehicles were produced in Japan.

Nissan says the sensor problem could cause under-acceleration or a stalled engine. The company reports no accidents or injuries related to the defect.

Nissan says dealers will fix the problem by replacing the accelerator pedal and reprogramming the engine controller in affected vehicles.
