Nissan Motor Co. says it will launch production of the Infiniti Q30 small hatchback at Aguascalientes, Mexico, in 2017 and add a small crossover and undisclosed third model in 2020.
Infiniti said in January it will eventually produce four models at the $1 billion factory, a joint venture between the Renault-Nissan alliance and Daimler AG. The plant is expected to reach annual capacity of 300,000 units in 2021.
Earlier reports said the facility will begin making a small Mercedes-Benz car in 2018. All five models will share a platform co-developed by Nissan and Daimler under a product development partnership they began in 2010.
