An explosion at a Magna International Inc. auto parts factory in Newmarket, Ont., injured nine employees, including six who were hospitalized, according to local authorities.

Magna says all six have been released. The plant, which makes vehicle door latches, is operated by Magna's Dortec Industries unit.

Magna attributes the blast to a "minor arc flash explosion" on the production line. Fire and labor Investigators are still looking into the incident.

There was no damage to the structure or equipment, the company notes. Work resumed work on all other lines by late Thursday.
