U.S. safety officials are looking into complaints about malfunctioning cruise controls and brake lights in 2005-2009 model Pontiac G6 sedans.
General Motors Co. recalled 8,000 of those cars four years ago to fix both problems, which were attributed to a corroded wiring connector. But the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has opened a new probe to determine whether the same flaws affect all 550,000 G6s made during the 2005-2009 model years.
NHTSA says it has received 212 complaints from owners who say the brake lights on their cars illuminate when they shouldn't and don't when they should.
Some owners also tell the agency that their cars' cruise control system sometimes disengages or has stopped working entirely.
