Nexteer Automotive Group Ltd. has opened a customer service center in Atsugi, Japan.

With a focus on application engineering projects, the new facility will coordinate Nexteer’s global resources in support of its growing business with the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance. Auburn Hills, Mich.-based Nexteer supplies steering, driveline and advanced driver assist systems.

The Atsugi center will join Nexteer’s 9-year-old customer service center in Tokyo. Both facilities are managed by James Burghardt, engineering director and customer service centers director, Nexteer Asia Pacific.

Nexteer, formerly the Saginaw (Mich.) Steering Gear Div. of General Motors Co., was acquired by China’s Pacific Century Motors Inc. in 2010.
