Adam Opel AG’s next-generation Corsa five-door hatch will ride on a PSA Group platform when the new model debuts in 2019, sources tell the Allgemeine Zeitung.

The car will be the fourth Opel model to switch from a General Motors Co. chassis, after the new Opel Crossland X and Vauxhall Grandland X small crossover vehicles and Combo delivery van, according to the report.

PSA agreed in March to acquire Opel from GM €2.2 billion ($2.4 billion). The newspaper’s sources says moving the Corsa to a PSA platform will reduce production costs and hike margins for the car.

Production of the redesigned Corsa will remain at Opel’s factory in Zaragoza. Allgemeine Zeitung says the Spanish factory will make only models with a PSA platform. That facility currently assembles three Corsa variants, plus the Meriva small MPV and Mokka mini-crossover vehicle.
