Next-Gen VW Jetta to Get Detroit Reveal

Volkswagen AG plans to unveil the seventh-generation Jetta sedan at the Detroit auto show in Detroit.

The car, which features a coupe-like roofline, was developed specifically for the American market, Volkswagen of America boss Hinrich Woebcken tells VWVortex. He describes the design as being “super modern” and “strong and emotional.”

The all-new 2019 model will ride on VW’s modular MQB platform. Engine options are expected to include a 1.6-liter 4-cylinder unit and a pair of smaller turbocharged four-bangers. A manual transmission option will be available at launch, Woebcken says.
