Toyota Motor Corp. will take wraps off the fifth-generation Lexus LS sedan next month at the Detroit auto show.

The flagship car will sit on a lengthened version of Lexus’ rear-wheel-drive GA-L platform, which also carries the LC 500 coupe. Styling will be much bolder, which Lexus says will be highlighted by a coupe-like silhouette.

A teaser image of the vehicle shows the brand’s signature spindle grille. The partial cutaway appears to show an air suspension with a double-wishbone front layout.

Toyota launched Lexus at the 1989 Detroit show with the original LS model. The current fourth-generation car bowed in 2006.
