Ford Motor Co.’s all-new Focus will be longer and wider than the current car when it debuts next year as a 2019 model. Multiple media reports note the change, based on recent spy photographs of camouflaged prototypes.

Styling changes are expected to be highlighted by a sleeker roofline and larger rear doors. Ford also promises to offer more technology, an upgraded interior and a “number of new variants” to the Focus lineup. Aluminum body panels also are rumored.

Last month Ford announced it will build the Focus sedan in China, which will export the vehicle to the U.S. and other global markets. Ford will later supply Focus variants from its factory in Germany. The carmaker nixed plans earlier this year to produce the Focus at a new plant in Mexico.

The current Focus plant in Wayne, Mich., is being retooled to build the all-new Ranger pickup truck and Bronco SUV.
