The 2018 Detroit auto show will hold its media and industry preview events during the week of Jan. 14, a week later than this year’s show, which opened to the public on Saturday.
The move coincides with a one-week shift in CES, the former Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, to Jan. 9-12. That event has become an increasingly popular venue for carmakers and their suppliers to announce new technologies.
Organizers of both shows say next year’s dates reflect bookings that are made years in advance. They say neither schedule is driven by the timing of the other’s schedule.
