Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV’s Dodge unit says it will prioritize orders for its new Challenger SRT Demon performance model to dealers who don’t gouge on pricing and can meet other sales guidelines.

To be eligible for a Demon, dealers must have sold more than one SRT Hellcat variant of the Challenger or Charger muscle cars in the last year. Actual allocations will be based on the ratio of Hellcat models previously sold.

Demons sold at or below the manufacturer’s suggested retail price of $85,000 will receive priority status, followed by those sold above the sticker price. Sales will involve a notarized document signed by the customer and dealer that must be received by a new Demon Concierge order processing unit before the vehicle will be scheduled for production.

A new website (www.dodge.com) will enable customers to track their orders. Buyers also can contact Demon Concierge personnel through a dedicated phone hotline.

Dodge will begin delivering the Challenger SRT Demon this autumn. Sales will be limited to 3,000 units in the U.S. and 300 in Canada. Dealers can start placing orders today.

Powered by a supercharged 6.2-liter V-8 engine that makes 840 hp, the Challenger SRT Demon can run the quarter mile in 9.65 seconds, which Dodge says is a world record for a production car. The car also has the highest recorded g-force (1.8 g) for a production model at launch and is the first such model to perform a “wheelie,” according to the carmaker.
