Navistar International Corp. has promoted Jack Allen, president of its North America truck and parts business, to chief operating officer, effective immediately.
He succeeds Troy Clarke, who became CEO of the Lisle, Ill.-based maker of trucks and diesel engines on Monday, as previously announced.
Allen held his previous job since June 2012. He was named president of North America Truck in 2008 after serving as president of Navistar's engine group.
Allen's promotion is the latest step in rebuilding Navistar's top management since Dan Ustian was forced out as chairman and CEO last August after the failure of his diesel engine strategy.
Retired Textron CEO Lewis Campbell served as chairman and interim CEO until this week. Navistar board member James Keyes, former chairman and CEO of Johnson Controls Inc., has taken over as nonexecutive chairman.
