Navistar International Corp. has sold its recreational vehicle business to privately held Allied Specialty Vehicles for an unspecified price.

Orlando, Fla.-based Allied makes Fleetwood RVs, as well as such specialty vehicles as fire and emergency trucks.

Navistar RV sells mobile homes and towable units under the Monaco, Holiday Rambler and R-Vision brands. The sale includes RV factories in Harrisburg, Ore., and Wakarusa, Ind. Allied also has signed a multi-year lease for a Navistar plant in Elkhart, Ind.

Navistar will keep its Bison Coach horse trailer operations.

The company acquired Monaco Coach Corp. out of bankruptcy in 2009. Navistar says divesting the RV unit will allow it to focus on its core diesel engine and truck business.
