Musk: East Coast Hyperloop Project Gets “Verbal” Government Approval

Tesla Inc. CEO Elon Musk says The Boring Co., a Los Angeles-based startup he launched last December, has received “verbal government approval” to build an underground hyperloop tunnel to service New York City, Philadelphia, Baltimore and Washington, D.C.
Musk, who made the announcement on Twitter, estimates the high-speed system could transport travelers from New York to D.C. in 29 minutes. The plan would include more than a dozen "entry/exit elevators” in each city.
Last month Boring broke ground on a set of tunnels in Los Angeles. Musk envisions that network using underground car carriers to alleviate above-ground road congestion.
Musk suggested future hyperloop tunnels could be in the works in Texas and from Los Angeles to San Francisco. Several other companies are developing and testing above-ground hyperloop rails, which promise to transport people and/or goods in capsules at speeds as high as 750 mph. Musk proposed the concept four years ago.
