Ford Motor Co. CEO Alan Mulally says the auto industry needs regulatory boundaries on the use of data collected by in-car navigation and other telematic features.
"Everything's going to be connected," he tells reporters at the Detroit auto show. "So what are the guidelines?"
Mulally flatly rejected an off-hand remark last week by Ford global marketing chief Jim Farley that Ford uses GPS to track its customers and knows if they've been speeding. "That's absolutely wrong," he declares, insisting, "We would never do that."
