The latest update, which dealers can install in five minutes, will be available for more than 100,000 Jeep Cherokee SUVs made before May 5, according to the newspaper. Chrysler says the software adjustment aims to improve shift feel.
Chrysler expects to eventually use the new transmission in virtually all its front-drive models.
The gearbox debuted in the Cherokee last October after a two-month delay to tweak its control software for better shift performance. The same transmission is being installed in the all-new Chrysler 200 sedan that debuted earlier this month in the U.S.
