Mitsubishi Motors Corp. is calling back 35,700 of its 2016 model Outland and Outlander Sport SUV in the U.S. to replace door latches that may fail if they get too hot.
MMC says the inside door latch mechanism may fail to latch under high ambient temperatures, thereby allowing the door to open unexpectedly. The company, which discovered the problem in Japan, blames a faulty manufacturing process by a supplier.
No associated injuries have been reported. MMC says it has not yet determined when to begin the recall.
