Mitsubishi Motors Corp. is relocating its North American headquarters from Cypress, Calif., to a suburb of Nashville later this year.

The company says it will begin the transfer to Franklin, Tenn., in August, occupying temporary office space until it can find a permanent location. MMC has about 200 employees working at its Cypress location.

The move will put MCC’s regional headquarters near those of Nissan Motor Co., which acquired a 34% controlling stake in the company in 2016. Nissan relocated its U.S. headquarters from Los Angeles to Nashville, Tenn., in 2006.

MMC says its move will involving the company’s North American sales, marketing product planning and dealer functions. The company’s part distribution operations will remain in California. The headquarters move won’t impact MMC’s research operations in Ann Arbor, Mich., or government affairs office in Washington, D.C.
