The strategy will help push the brand farther inland and establish it in new regions. The company currently assembles its Outlander SUV in China and is testing a plug-in version of the vehicle there.
MMC hopes to increase its global sales 25% to 1.25 million units by early 2020. Asia currently contributes about 30% of the company’s sales, according to The Nikkei.
