Mitsubishi Electric Corp. plans to build a second manufacturing plant at its complex at Slany, Czech Republic.
Due to be completed in April 2020, the new 106,000 sq-ft facility will allow the supplier to increase production of electric motors, inverters and integrated starter-generators (ISGs) for electrified vehicles. Mitsubishi Electric forecasts rapid growth for such vehicles—especially 48-volt mild hybrids in Europe—in coming years.
Mitsubishi Electric launched its Czech operations in 2000. The current Slany facility produces alternators, control units, electric power-steering motors, ISGs and starter motors.
