The state of Michigan aims to make itself a center of personal mobility through a new initiative called Planet M.
The campaign’s tagline is “Michigan. Where big ideas in mobility are born.” The effort seeks to informally unite government, business leaders, academia and other stakeholder organizations to promote Michigan’s transportation technology base. Initial participants include the Michigan Economic Development Corp., MichAuto, the state’s Dept. of Transportation, Business Leaders for Michigan and the University Research Corridor.
The partnership broadens the scope of the “We Run on Brainpower” program launched by MEDC last summer. That campaign draws attention to the state’s concentration of transportation-related engineering, research and manufacturing capabilities.
Gov. Rick Snyder, who unveiled Planet M at a leadership conference on Wednesday, describes the new campaign as a way to ensure Michigan will “continue to shape the way the world moves.”
