Michelin North America Inc. is replacing about 1.3 million of its LTX M/S commercial light-truck tires in the U.S., Canada and Mexico because they may lose their treads and/or have a blowout.
The tires were produced from 2010 to mid-2012. They have been used as original-equipment and replacement tires on fullsize pickup trucks, large heavy-duty vans, commercial light trucks and small recreational vehicles. Michelin stopped making the tires in June 2010.
The company, which reports no injuries related to the flaw, says customers returned fewer than 200 of the tires before the recall was announced.
