Daimler AG’s Mercedes-Benz unit is calling back 121,900 of its GLC series SUV/crossovers in the U.S. to fix a seatbelt retractor that could render the belts unusable.
The belt’s latch plate—the part that inserts into the lap belt buckle—could be retracted completely into the side trim and become difficult to retrieve, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
Dealers will install a new C-pillar rim piece to prevent the latch from being pulled in too far. NHTSA says the recall will begin in mid-May.
