Mercedes Posts Record 3Q, September Sales

Daimler AG’s Mercedes-Benz brand reports record-high deliveries in September and the third quarter of 223,800 units and 590,500 units, respectively.

September sales surged 10%, enough to push quarterly volume into positive territory for the first time this year. Gains were driven by an 18% surge to 72,700 units in sales of Daimler’s compact cars, such as the A-Class sedan (pictured) and a 13% jump to 61,700 new-car deliveries in China.

Sales last month grew 8% to 99,100 vehicles in Europe and 5% to 27,400 units in the U.S.

Mercedes-brand sales through the first nine months of 2019 advanced 1% to 1.73 million cars and SUV/crossover vehicles.
