Daimler AG will offer Alphabet Inc.’s Google Home Assistant integration on Mercedes-Benz vehicles in select markets in 2017.
Mercedes says it is one of the first carmakers to offer the feature (previously called Goggle Now), which allows motorists to access certain vehicle features from their homes, computers or wearable devices. Users can send destinations to their vehicles, schedule and turn on heating and cooling systems, check fuel and battery charge levels, and lock and unlock the vehicle via the home-based voice actuation system.
Google Home is similar to Amazon.com’s Alexa system. BMW AG and Hyundai Motor Co.’s Genesis luxury division began offering Alexa vehicle integration earlier this year.
