McLaren Automotive Ltd. is moving its North American headquarters from New York City to a much larger and more practical facility outside Dallas, early next year, Automotive News reports.
The new 30,000 sq-ft base in Texas will replace 4,500 sq-ft of office space on the 24th floor of a building in midtown Manhattan. The company employs 27 people in North America, about half of them based at the regional headquarters.
In the eight years since McLaren began selling its supercars in the U.S., North America has become the British company’s largest market. Last year the region generated one-third of McLaren’s 4,800-unit sales, as deliveries jumped 21% to nearly 1,600 units. The company currently has 24 dealers in the U.S. and three in Canada.
McLaren says the new offices will include a local special operations unit, where customers can customize the design of their vehicles. Such work has been conducted exclusively in the U.K.
