The 2019-model Mazda6 will come standard with a 6-speed automatic. A 6-speed manual had previously been available on the base Mazda6, but Mazda says demand for the option has plunged in recent years.
Mazda still offers manual gearboxes on two U.S. models: the Mazda3 hatchback and MX-5 Miata roadster.
