Mazda Motor Corp. is recalling 69,400 of its RX-8 sports cars in the U.S. to replace a faulty fuel pump seal that could leak and perhaps cause a fire.
The callback will cover 2004-2008 models of the rotary-engine-powered four-seater. Dealers will replace fuel pump sealing rings and add insulation between the saddle-style fuel tank and exhaust pipe.
Mazda says it doesn’t have enough spare parts to launch the recall immediately but will update affected owners when it does.
