Maserati Touts New Engine Family

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV’s Maserati unit is developing a new engine family that will debut next year in a 2+2 sports coupe.

The company offered no details about the engine. But it released photos of a camouflaged prototype of the new coupe being tested this week in Italy.

Previous reports have suggested the new model will be a production version of the 2014 Alfieri concept car. In addition to a stand-alone piston engine, hybrid and all-electric powertrains also are said to be in the works.
