Fiat SpA's Maserati luxury car unit is preparing to increase production 20% to 900 cars per week to meet demand for its €49,400 ($66,900) Ghibli and €75,700 ($102,500) Quattroporte sedans, Bloomberg News reports.

A FISMIC union official tells Bloomberg the company will boost output at its factory outside Turin by adding two Saturday shifts, reducing summer breaks in August by two weeks and reassigning about 350 workers to the facility from its Mirafiori plant in Turin.

The popularity of Maserati's relatively inexpensive Ghibli helped push the brand's sales to 12,500 units in January-May. The company sold 15,400 cars in all of 2013.
