Fiat SpA's Maserati unit says it will preserve the marque's exclusivity by selling no more than 75,000 vehicles per year.
Maserati, whose cars start at $67,000, hopes to sell 50,000 vehicles in 2015 and reach 75,000 units three years later. Volume is on track to double this year to about 30,000 units.
The company targets annual revenue of €6 billion three times the current level by 2018. To support growth, it will expand its dealer network to 500 outlets from 250 in 2011. The brand also is preparing to extend its product lineup with the Alfieri sports car and Levante crossover vehicle.
Maserati's bid to maintain exclusivity mirrors Fiat's Ferrari brand strategy. Last year Ferrari declared it would limit annual production to 7,000 units from a peak of 7,300 in 2012.
