Magneti Marelli SpA plans a $13 million expansion for its North American headquarters that will add more than 100 employees.

The project will add test equipment and laboratories at its facilities in Auburn Hills, Mich., a suburb of Detroit.

Magneti Marelli is a former subsidiary of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV. FCA agreed in October to sell the unit to Japan’s Calsonic Kansei Corp for €6.2 billion ($7.1 billion). The company operates 15 r&d centers and owns 85 manufacturing facilities worldwide.
