Magna Teams with SAIC Unit to Make Electric Drives in China

Magna International Inc. has formed a joint venture with SAIC Motor Corp.’s Huayu Automotive Systems unit to produce electric-drive propulsion systems in China.

The new venture initially will supply an electric powertrain to an unnamed German carmaker for vehicles produced and sold in China. The integrated system will include an electric motor, gearbox, inverter and control software developed by Magna.
