Geely Automobile Holding Co.’s Lynk & Co brand has unveiled a pre-production version of its second model, a sporty compact crossover called 02.

The 02 (pictured) will join its larger sibling, the 01, in the Chinese market next year. Lynk says it will introduce both models in Europe and at least the 01 in the U.S. in 2019.

The two Lynk SUVs will use variants of the CMA (compact modular architecture) platform that carries Volvo Cars’ XC40 crossover vehicle. Geely, which owns both brands, confirmed yesterday that Lynk will supply the European market beginning in early 2020 with vehicles made at Volvo Car’s assembly plant in Ghent, Belgium.

Lynk began selling the 01 in China last November. The company says it will market its vehicles in Europe initially through outlets in Amsterdam, Barcelona, Berlin, Brussels and London. All European models reportedly will be propelled by a plug-in hybrid powertrain.

Lynk also plans to expand its lineup to a third model, a midsize sedan called the 03, in about two years.
