Bob Lutz, who became a paid consultant to General Motors Co. in September 2011, tells reporters that arrangement ended on Dec. 31.

Lutz retired as GM vice chairman in 2010 but returned to advise top management about design, marketing and communications.

Early in that period Lutz says he urged CEO Dan Akerson to approve a production version of the Cadillac Converj concept car shown at the 2009 Detroit auto show, Automotive News reports. This week Cadillac publicly unveiled the ELR plug-in hybrid coupe, which is based on the Converj.
