Lucid Motors Names Rawlinson as CEO
Electric car startup Lucid Motors Inc. has named Peter Rawlinson as CEO, effective immediately.
Electric car startup Lucid Motors Inc. has named Peter Rawlinson as CEO, effective immediately.
Rawlinson, who joined the Menlo Park, Calif-based company in 2013, also will continue as chief technology officer. He succeeds CEO and co-founder Sam Weng, who has retired.
Rawlinson was chief engineer for Tesla Inc.’s Model S electric sedan before joining Lucid. He also is former chief engineer at Lotus Cars and a senior engineer at Jaguar.
His immediate task as CEO will be to shepherd Lucid’s transition from product development to production. The 11-year-old company hopes to introduce its first EV, a $60,000 sedan called Air, in 2020 The high-performance car will be produced at the company’s $700 million factory in Casa Grande, Ariz.
