The maker of London’s iconic black taxis has hired Joerg Hofmann, a former executive at Audi AG, as its CEO, effective Feb. 4.

The maker of London’s iconic black taxis has hired Joerg Hofmann, a former executive at Audi AG, as its CEO, effective Feb. 4.

Hofmann will succeed Chris Gubbey as head of the London Electric Vehicle Co. Hofmann held executive sales and marketing positions with Audi in Australia and Singapore. Most recently he was president and CEO of Audi of Brazil.

LEVC, previously called the London Taxi Co., was acquired by China’s Geely Automobile Holding Group Co. in 2013. the company launched its first all-electric taxi, the TX5, in 2017. London began requiring that new cabs old in the city be able to operate in zero-emission mode at the beginning of last year.
