Toyota Motor Corp.'s Lexus brand plans to open several "spaces" where would-be customers can peruse art, fashion, culture, film, music and technology but no Lexus production cars.

Lexus says the locations, dubbed Intersection by Lexus, are intended to allow visitors to experience the brand without actually climbing into one of its vehicles. The company will open the first facility in Tokyo at the end of August and says it plans to eventually expand to such "cosmopolitan" cities as Dubai and New York.

The inaugural facility will house a high-end cafe and car-related exhibits on the first floor. The second floor will offer a library-lounge and a shop offering lifestyle items that "harmonize" with the Lexus philosophy.
