Toyota Motor Corp.’s upscale Lexus unit plans to begin selling a 65-foot yacht in the U.S. by the end of 2019.

The company announced the plan at this month’s boat show in Yokohama. At last year’s show, Lexus unveiled a 42-foot concept yacht (pictured) and several design sketches.

The ultraluxury 65-footer will be able to accommodate as many as 15 passengers. Features will include three guest bedrooms and separate crew quarters. Lexus says the yacht will strengthen the company’s brand image by creating a “dream-like vision of a luxury lifestyle” to which consumers can aspire. Pricing is expected to start at about $3 million.

Toyota’s Marine business is leading the development program, which is said to be in the production planning stage. Pulaski, Wis.-based Marquis-Carver Yacht Group will build the boat for Lexus.

Luxury car rival Mercedes-Benz unit has offered limited-edition powerboats and yachts for several years. BMW has shown similar concepts in recent years.
