Toyota Motor Co.'s Lexus unit will show a near-production concept version of a four-seat sport coupe based on its IS sedan at the Tokyo auto show Nov. 20.
The RC coupe will feature the aggressive spindle-grille styling similar to the LF-CC concept that debuted at the Paris auto show last year. It will share drivetrains with the IS four-door: a 3.5-liter V-6 in the RC 350 and a hybrid powertrain with a 2.5-liter V-6 engine in the RC 300h. The coupe will replace the IS convertible in the Lexus lineup.
Production powertrains also could include a turbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine. The car likely will be rear or all-wheel drive with 6- or 8-speed automatic transmission.
Specifications released by Toyota detail a car with a 108-inch wheelbase that is 185 inches long, 55 inches tall and 72 inches wide. Those measurements align it with the Audi A5, BMW 4 Series, Infiniti Q60 and Mercedes C-Class coupe.
Lexus says the RC is close to production but has not disclosed when it would go on sale. Reports suggest the coupe will appear in showrooms by next autumn as a 2015 model.
