Tata Motors Ltd.'s Land Rover unit plans in 2016 to launch a larger version of the Range Rover Evoque that will slot between the existing SUV and the Range Rover Sport.

The Evoque XL will use the same aluminum platform to be shared by four compact Jaguar models currently in development. Land Rover says the bigger model, expected to start at about 41,000 (€48,000), will be lighter than the original Evoque.

The company predicts that extensive use of aluminum and a family of all-new 4-cylinder gasoline and diesel engines will make the XL the brand's most fuel-efficient model.
