Confirming previous reports, Jaguar Land Rover's Range Rover unit says it will launch a 2-door SUV this year that will be unveiled at the Geneva auto show in March.

Dubbed the Coupe SV, the limited-edition model promises to be the most expensive vehicle in the luxury marque’s lineup. That distinction currently goes to the $250,000 Range Rover SVAutobiography, which was introduced late last year.

The carmaker describes the 2-door Coupe SV, which is based on the current Range Rover, as having “peerless refinement and breathtaking proportions.” The layout pays tribute to the original Range Rover, which debuted in 1970 as a 2-door model.

Land Rover also offers two-door versions of the smaller Evoque and Evoque convertible. But most new luxury SUVs, such as the Bentley Bentayga, BMW X6, Lamborghini Urus and Rolls-Royce Cullinan, have four doors.

The new model’s “sumptuous” interior will be “beautifully” appointed, Land Rover promises. A teaser image shows a four-seat layout, with the front and rear trimmed in contrasting diamond-pattern leather. A wood-veneered center console runs the length of the cabin, while the dash and door panels are trimmed in white leather to match the front seats.

Power is expected to come from a supercharged 5.0-litre V-8 engine. The powerplant produces 557 hp and 516 lb-ft of torque in the Range Rover SVAutobiography.

The Coupe SV will be hand-built at JLR’s SV technical center in Warwickshire, U.K. Production will be limited to 999 units this year in celebration of Land Rover’s 70th anniversary.
