Volkswagen AG’s Lamborghini brand plans to launch a one-model race series for its Urus SUV in 2020.

The races will feature a mix of on- and off-road competitions that will be held on FIA-approved circuits in Europe and the Middle East. A modified version of the new Urus, which was introduced in 2017, will be used for the races.

This weekend, Lamborghini unveiled the Urus ST-X concept, which previews the race version. The concept is 25% lighter than the street model and comes with an integrated steel roll cage, increased torsional stiffening, sport exhaust system, rear wing, larger intakes and 21-inch alloy wheels.

The ST-X keeps the street model’s twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V-8, which makes 650 hp and 627 lb-ft of torque. The engine is mated with an 8-speed automatic transmission.
